The Keeper of Teviotdale is a work of fiction that draws on local Border history within a plot that weaves a gripping tale of past and present. Partly satirical and partly historical the two main themes of the intertwining narrative combine to a dramatic conclusion.

The satirical aspect of the novel highlights the local character and sense of humour of border folk and highlights a fictional local council as a prime focus. The historical chapters which punctuate the novel, draw on real events as a foundation to the overall plot.
